Libertarian Majority

The Libertarian Party seeks to radically reduce the size, scope and power of government. To that end, we offer this list of federal agencies to abolish (or make private and voluntary); federal laws to repeal; and international treaties or organizations whose binding authority is to be repudiated.

Our silence on any other particular government law, regulation, ordinance, directive, edict, control, regulatory agency, activity, or machination — at the federal, state, or local level — should not be construed as approval.

Some Libertarians seek to effect every change on this list as quickly as humanly possible, arguing that sooner is always better when increasing freedom. Other Libertarians seek to reduce government as quickly as humanely possible, desiring to mitigate the disruptions and side-effects which may accompany sudden large changes. Not all Libertarians agree that every item on this list is serving no useful purpose. However, we stand united in demanding that Lady Liberty's lamp of personal freedom and individual responsibility be unshuttered, that it may completely banish the shadow of the omnipresent nanny state.
